Jetko J-Zero – High Competition 1/8th Buggy Tire

Jetko’s range of 1/8th tire designs covers most of the needs for off-road drivers with only a few styles, making your tire choice simple. This will never change.

However, when it comes to fighting for victory at high-level competitions and winning titles, you need a tire for every special condition. To achieve this level of high performance, the first of these high competition tires was born—the J-Zero.

Jetko is a tire manufacturer with years of experience, its own manufacturing capacity, and the ability to adapt as track surfaces evolve. To design the new J-Zero, Jetko's engineers studied the best-performing tires on low-grip tracks and analyzed how they worked. Hours of testing were carried out, mostly on top European tracks, to understand how competitor tires behave.

It soon became clear that the challenge was to achieve an extremely flexible tread by creating numerous deformation zones and avoiding designs that offered too much stiffness.

At the same time, the sidewalls were redesigned to achieve controlled flex. Lugs are slit to ensure they do not interfere with carcass deformation, and spaced areas multiply the deformation zones.

The internal structure of the tire is also new, designed to prevent centrifugal force from deforming the contact patch—improving consistency throughout the run.

Without reinventing the wheel, the design resembles the most efficient tires on these surfaces, featuring sculpted sidewalls, wide side blocks for precision, split diamond lugs, and diamond lug blocks.

The J-Zero performs best on wet tracks with cold wet rubber, or dry tracks with low grip when paired with traditional rubber compounds.

Jetko Rubber Compound Guide

Select the optimal tire compound based on temperature and track surface:

  • Red Compound – Ultra Soft (Red Dot) For below 10°C or dusty, low-grip tracks. Maximizes pin movement for grip in loose conditions.
  • Orange Compound – Soft (Orange Dot) Best for 15–25°C or semi-swept tracks with reduced dust. Offers more precision than Ultra Soft.
  • Green Compound – Soft (Green Dot) Ideal for above 25°C on clean, high-grip surfaces like swept dirt with wood and/or cobblestone sections. Lowest wear rate.
  • Ultra Soft Composite Rubber (Double Red Dots) Use on oiled or synthetic tracks (with wood and/or cobblestone sections) below 15°C, or when the surface is slippery outside this range.
  • Super Soft Composite Rubber (Double Orange Dots) Also for below 15°C on oiled/synthetic surfaces. Slightly firmer than Ultra Soft Composite.
  • Soft Composite Rubber (Double Green Dots) Designed for above 15°C on oiled or synthetic surfaces. If temps exceed 20°C, switch to traditional compounds (Super Soft or Soft).
  • Wet Rubber (Gold Dot) For below 10°C or wet conditions. Not recommended for dry tracks above 15°C due to increased wear.

Tip: Composite rubbers are optimized for synthetic or oiled surfaces. Traditional compounds perform best on natural dirt tracks.
